Amager White Polygon Ceramic Satin Wall Tiles 360x275mm Ceramic tiles are made mainly from clay and other inorganic raw materials. They are water-resistant, thus perfect for kitchens and bathrooms, and they are easy to clean – good news if you have pets, children, or are just messy! They are cheaper than porcelain tiles, but also not as hard. Although this gives them less longevity, it makes the floor variety much more comfortable to walk on, and there is a greater variety of ceramic designs. Both have their benefits, which is why we stock both here at Tile Monkey! Satin finished tiles lay somewhere between matt and gloss. They have a smooth surface with a subtly reflective sheen, but not to the extent of gloss. The smoothness also makes them easier to clean than matt, but safer than gloss by not being as slippery. This makes them perfect for homes with children or pets where mess is made but safety needs to be considered. Incorporating an unusual pattern and beautifully reflecting light, this tile makes a gorgeous addition to any modern home. Ideal for those who like abstract and modern art, but also want a classic colour to match existing decor. Please try our free samples if you are interested in this product. |
Prepare the Surface Area
Any cracks or damaged areas should be repaired and the surface should be level. If a primer has been purchased then the primer should be applied and left to dry. Plan the Layout of the Tiles
Mark the centre of the surface area using snap chalk and plan where each tile will lay. This can be completed by dry laying each tile or simply marking where each tile will be installed. This will allow the edge pieces to be measured and cut accordingly.
Apply Adhesive
It is important to read manufacturer’s instructions if the adhesive requires mixing. The adhesive should be applied with a trowel and only 1 meter squared should be applied at a time. A ¼” coat is usually recommended; however, this may vary depending on the tile. Use the notched side of the trowel at a 45-degree angle to remove any excess adhesive.
Lay the Tiles
If you are laying floor tiles then start in the centre of the room, or if you’re laying wall tiles then start in a corner and work your way across. Place spacers in between tiles to ensure an even joint gap is created. Gently tap all tiles into place and wipe away any excess adhesive from the surface of the tiles using a damp sponge. Always check the lines are even using a spirit level. Leave to dry for 24 hours.
Apply Grout
Use a grout flout to push the grout into the joints at a 45-degree angle using diagonal swipes. Ensure any excess grout is removed from the surface of the tiles to avoid damaging the final appearance. The grout should take around 20 minutes to cure. Once the grout has cured, wipe down all tiles with a damp cloth. Once the tiles have been left for 72 hours then you are able to apply a coat of sealant over the tiles or grout.
Always read the manufacturer’s instructions on packaging as aspects of the installation method may change due to variation of products.UK Delivery
